Areas of practice
Real Estate Projects
We participate in real estate projects either as special counsel or among teams of lawyers and tax consultants. In both cases we advise from the initial stage of the project, i.e., the formation of complex cross-border structures of special purpose vehicles, to the completion or closing of the project. Our close collaboration with trial lawyers has enabled us to continue advising our clients even after the completion of the projects to successfully solve disputes between our clients and other shareholders or landowners.
In this area our experience includes the advice to:
one of the largest hotel companies worldwide with more than 380 hotels in four continents in key matters of several hotels, such as acquisitions and settlements.
foreign investors in consecutive real estate projects for industrial, commercial, and residential purposes in the Bajío area of Mexico in excess of U.S.$700,000,000 dollars.
foreign individuals in the transfer of title to coastal real estate subject to constitutional and legal restrictions.

Business Transactions
Commonly referred to a transactional work that encompasses an array of agreements far beyond mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures in several industries and economic activities.
Our experience these industries includes
the following:
Automotive
Construction
Information Technology
Food
Media & Entertainment
Pharmaceuticals
Private security
Telecommunication
On-demand economy
Pulp and paper
Corporate Wellness
Multinationals ranked within the ten largest companies in the world by revenue have been some of our clients.

Financial Transactions
Our experience has been focused on entities different from banking institutions, including payment processors, factoring entities, and money transmitters.

This area has included the advisory on the regulation of institutions of financial technology (FinTech).

We have advised some of these entities for years in their relationship with counterparts, federal authorities, and clients.

Nonetheless, our advisory in this area has also covered bank-related transactions, e.g., the acquisition of a package of shares issued by the Mexican affiliate of a bank founded in Europe in 1727.

Energy Transactions
Our advisory in the oil sector culminated in the award to one of
our clients of a license agreement for hydrocarbon extraction in the bidding process known as Third Tender of Round 1 (Tercera Convocatoria de la Ronda 1).
In the renewable energy sector, we participated in the largest hydroelectric project in the recent history of a South American country that will generate 2,400 MW. Our legal advice in private investment projects for the transition to clean energy has been rendered before 2013.
We have advised clients in sectors that have
been a milestone in the development of the
country, such as:
the opening to private investment in the Mexican oil extraction industry only in December 2013.
the regulations on electric energy storage, the preparation of which was offered by the Mexican federal government to a consultants group led by us in 2019.

Economic Competition
The sophistication of our participation in this area has evolved from:
the legal advice to clients in transactional matters before the Federal Commission of Economic Competition (Comisión Federal de Competencia Económica or COFECE), including mergers, acquisitions, cartels, and horizontal agreements.
the legal advice to Commissioners of COFECE themselves and officers of the Mexican federal government.
leading cases before the highest court in collaboration with trial lawyers, including a civil case on damages for anticompetitive conduct.
At the international level, we have been non-governmental advisors of the International Competition Network (ICN) since 2016 and members of the American Bar Association since 2005.

Additionally, we have published several articles on competition law in the International Antitrust Bulletin of the American Bar Association.
